This is a tip from my local friend, Jami. We were just at her house on Wednesday for lunch. She made us the most fabulous grass-fed hamburgers. The night before we went she emailed me to say what she was making. I could just taste the hamburger, I was so eager! The next day, the hamburger tasted just like I imagined… it was that good! But, back to her tip.

Lately, we’ve taken to using unrefined, virgin coconut oil anytime we need a buttery spread. Jeff said, “This is what butter should taste like!” It’s really good, surprisingly good. Give it a try.

This is a frozen coconut “candy” – but a candy that I eat before every meal! (At the time of this update 10/29/2009.) In the book “Eat Fat, Lose Fat,” by Sally Fallon and Mary Enig, the authors note that unrefined, virgin coconut oil provides “vital nourishment to every cell in your body…” but it also helps one feel satisfied, decreasing cravings and persistent hunger.
