We are straying a bit from the topic of “Weekly Ktichen Tips” today. This is more of a household tip, but I find it helpful because so often my mindset in the kitchen is affected by how my general household is running. It comes from Jami who shared the measuring hard oils displacement method of last week.
Displacement Method for Measuring Hard Oils
This is a tip from my local friend, Jami. We were just at her house on Wednesday for lunch. She made us the most fabulous grass-fed hamburgers. The night before we went she emailed me to say what she was making. I could just taste the hamburger, I was so eager! The next day, the hamburger tasted just like I imagined… it was that good! But, back to her tip.
De-Crystallizing (Melting) Raw Honey
This tip comes from Tiffany Perez’ cookbook, At Tiffany’s Table.
When melting raw honey, put it into a glass jar, place in a pan of water and turn on stove to LOWEST temperature possible. Heat and stir until melted. This should stay liquid for about 1 month, if it lasts that long. Raw honey should not be heated above 117 degrees Fahrenheit to keep the integrity of the enzymes.
