Crock On! by Stacy Myers

I am sooooo excited about Crock On!, the brand-new crockpot cookbook by Stacy Myers. We in the real food community have needed something like this for a long time! Lovely recipes using mostly whole food ingredients, healthy fats, and natural sweeteners. And on the flip side — no cans of cream of soup or beans.

The author, Stacy Myers of Stacy Makes Cents, is a funny gal — you’ll love reading the book, not to mention cooking from it.

Crock On! by Stacy Myers

She says she owns four crockpots and is thinking of getting a fifth. Well, that makes us tied, as I have four crockpots as well! However, one of hers, the nesting set, actually 3 in 1, is a lot cooler than I anything I have. 😉

Her book shares 40 mouth-watering recipes, each with a gorgeous photo and very nicely laid out, and you get to know Stacy, too. I love books where the author’s personality is as apparent as the quality of the recipes.

As I type, the first recipe in the book, Mexican Chicken Chowder, is in the crockpot for our Sunday lunch. You can see a complete list of the recipes here, including soups, sandwiches and wraps, main dishes, sides, and desserts. But I’m warning you… you’re going to be salivating. What would you say to one of these Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes?

Or how about some Honey Baked Apples and Pears?

Yeah, I thought so. :)

I’m happy to tell you that I have both good news and… more good news. Oh, and more good news.

Good News #1 — This cookbook is just $5. I’ll spell that out for you: 40 crockpot recipes for $5. Twelve and a half cents each! Recipes you’ll likely use over and over and over and over again.  Recipes that will teach you how to upgrade your current go-to crock recipes to more healthy and less processed. Here’s the Kindle version, also $5.

Good News #2 — You can get 15% off, knocking your price down to $4.25! Click here to purchase and use coupon code gnow15 through 12/31/12 to save 15%. (Coupon good for PDF version only.)

And Good News #3 — I’m giving away 5 copies below. I suggest you purchase a copy for yourself anyway, and then if you win, you can gift someone else! This eBook fits both gift categories of frugal and awesome.

  2. Angenette says

This sounds so good — I’d love to try the Carolina barbque chicken sandwiches, the mac and cheese, and the coconut sweet potatoes. Everything sounds great!

  3. says

I can’t wait to try the Deluxe Potato Soup, the Enchilada Lasagna, and the Fruit Cobbler. My crockpot is my best friend in the winter months so this couldn’t have come at a better time!

  4. Marty Warner says

Looking forward to trying the Maple Sesame Chicken Beef & Broccoli, and the Fruit Cobbler. I have been looking for healthy Crock Pot recipes as we are always on the go and it is great to come home from work and have dinner ready.

  5. Karen A says

I would like to try the Pineapple pork loin, Carolina Barbecue Chicken Sandwiches, and the Honey Baked Apples and Pears. I do live my crock pot and could use some new ideas.

  6. Elaine says

    Hmmmm….Just 3???
I was just speaking w/ my hubby about so needing to get my brain wrapped around the whole foods cooking. Christmas cooking/baking (continuing as we speak) has been a real challenge for me trying to tweak some of our traditional food but now just changing to everything from certain whole foods blogs.
#1-Deluxe Potato Soup- I think I’ll try this instead of my norm for tonight or tomorrow w/ some of my Azure potatoes
#2-Pumpkin Apple Cake-I have LOTS of apples and I’m thinking this will be a good addition for guests over the next few days
#3-Stuffed Pepper Stoup???-Hmm. Me and hubby Love peppers. Gotta try that one.
    Can’t wait to try these.

  7. Susan Dickson says

Yum!! How do you choose just 3? This time of the year we are all about soup, so the first one to catch my interest is Mexican Chicken Chowder, closely followed by Hominy Taco Chili!! And then and then… The side dishes Cheesy Sausage Potatoes & Garlic Smashed Potatoes, not to mention Coconut Sweet Potatoes!! Oh and Black Bean Lasagna!! Love to sprout my black beans, then freeze them in 2 cup servings to add to soups, etc. They are even good in salads at this point, a little crunchy, but nice addition!

  8. Joy Redzinak says

I think this looks like an excellent cookbook. I want to make the Italian pot roast with noodles, the maple sesame chicken and the pizza potatoes. Yum yum.

  9. Lynn D says

I think the top 3 I want to try are the Mexican Chicken Chowder, Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes and Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake! I have trouble finding recipes everyone will eat in my family but these recipes will finally get the whole family eating together again!

  10. Fajr says

I would love to try the cheeseburger sloppy joes, the coconut sweet potatoes, and the double chocolate peanut butter lava cake.

  11. Mary Wells says

Oh my, what an outstanding selection of recipes which makes it so hard to pick just 3! Okay, it’s cold here, so looking at soups and I adore chowders! So, Mexican Chicken Chowder is one. Coconut Sweet Potatoes because my husband hates them and I love them. This way I can have some easily and I can fix him the old very boring potatoes he wants! Hmmmm. Now it’s really getting hard… I can’t make up my mind between the Spicy Creamed Beef which sounds intriguing and the Enchilada Lasagna which sounds luscious! Okay, let’s try the Spicy Creamed Beef, not only intriguing but tongue tingling!

  12. Paula N. says

I would love to try the pumpkin apple cake (both of my kids are pumpkin lovers), the broccoli soup, and any/all of the chicken recipes. We get pastured broiler chickens from a local farmer and I feel like my family gets bored with the few recipes that I recycle over and over again!

  13. Barbara Behringer says

The first recipe I would definitely try is •Cinnamon Raisin Bread Pudding (so many memories of my mom’s bread pudding), then •Swiss Steak because that was my grandmother’s specialty, plus •Broccoli Soup which is my favorite. All of the recipes sound delicious and it looks like Stacy Myers has made them easy. Thanks for the giveaway and another blogger for me to get to know.

  14. Lourdes says

I would like to try the Broccoli soup it looks pretty chunky and delicious, the sloppy chicken I am running out of ideas for chicken, and the broccoli casserole which is a sure dish every Thanksgiving, and I also love baked apples and pears, so I would like to try these for now, but there more that I would like to give it a try.

  15. Kimberly says

Well, we have the book already & have made the sloppy chicken which was delish. Looking forward to the pizza potatoes & cheesy sausage potatoes too.

  16. Cindy Hoff says

m looking forward to trying Deluxe Potato Soup, Upside Down Apple Pie, and Fruit Cobbler. I love new recipes using the crock pot for easy cooking and easy cleanup.

  17. Audrey says

Oh…these all sound yummy, but I would have to say the Enchilada Lasagna, Baked Beans and Upside Down Apple Pie. My crock pot is usually going a couple of times a week and it’s great to come home to a hot, nourishing meal.

  18. Shelly D. says

Would want to make Upside Down Apple Pie first (pie is God’s preview of the heavenly feast!). Then it would be the Pulled Beef Barbeque followed by the Coconut Sweet Potatoes. Yum!

  19. Victoria says

I’m a BBQ beef on a bun fanatic since high school, so would definitely try that…and would have to try the deluxe potato soup, as I make a corn chowder I think is mighty fine. Lastly, I think the Italian pot roast w/noodles sounds delicious! Hope to win! (Now to get the crock pot out of storage- moving sucks!)

  20. Deborah says

The first three dishes I would try would be Italian Pot Roast with Noodles, Beed and Broccoli, and Cinnamon Raisin Bread Pudding….or maybe Granola Apples….or…well, kind of hard to make up my mind, lol!

  21. David Dunn says

Hominy Taco is the first I want to try althought the cheesburger sloppy joes are making my mouth water and I have to try and top it all off with some o those croked apples and pears! YUM!

  22. Leslie says

All sound good to me. But to start with Carolina BBQ Chix sanwiches, Mexican Chix Chowder, and Swiss Steak. Thanks for the opportunity!

  23. JeriP says

My first to try are: Granola Apples, Coconut Sweet Potatoes and Spicy Creamed Beef. I can’t overlook Pulled Beef Barbecue because feeding a crowd is something we do often. I am happy to know about this book. Thanks!

  24. Angelina says

Ooooh! I’d love some double chocolate peanut butter lava cake, and the chicken tetrazzini, and a good crock mac and cheese recipe!

  25. Deb Hemphill says

After trying so many online, tasteless crock pot recipes in the past, I’ve pretty much relegated my crock pot to bone broths and one or two other recipes that I know are delicious. I would like to try the Buffalo Joes, Italian Pot Roast with Noodles and the Broccoli Casserole. I’ve never “crock potted” a desert recipe before, so I’m looking forward to trying the Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake! I would love to own Stacy’s cook book!

  26. Marie B. says

Just love my crockpot and am always in the hunt for new recipes and look forward to trying the Crema Cheese Chicken, Pulled Beef Barbecue Sandwich, and Carolina Barbecue Chicken Sandwich, being a Carolina girl just have to try any recipe with Carolina in the name.

  27. lori larson says

There are many that are intriguing, but I guess the 3 I’d pick are black bean lasagna, pizza potatoes & pumpkin apple cake. Thanks!

  28. JJ says

My first three choices would be Mexican Chicken Chowder, Creamy Chicken Chili, and Pumpkin Apple Cake. Sounds like a great book!

  29. Deb Lloyd says

Creamy, Cheesy Corn, Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake, and Spicy Creamed Beef all look good to me. It’s hard to pick only 3, though.

  30. Denise Garretson says

My top 3 recipes are Creamy Chicken Chili, Buffalo Joes and Coconut Sweet Potatoes. I love spicy and sweet potatoes. Looking forward to the recipes!

  31. Jennifer N says

Yum. Lots of great ideas. I’d love to try the Black Bean Lasagna, Pumpkin Apple Pie, the Mexican Chowder, the Broccoli Soup … and more. Thanks for sharing.

  32. says

Sounds awesome! I am always looking for crockpot cookbooks, but it is hard to find ones that don’t have cans or processed food as part of the recipes. Thanks for sharing!!

  33. Wina says

It is hard to decide but I think I would most like to try the Mexican Chicken Chowder, Hominy Taco Chili, and Broccoli Casserole.

  34. Johnnie Keating says

Chili Pork Wraps, Pineapple Pork Loin, and Coconut Sweet Potatoes would be my first choices, but they all sound great.

  35. says

broccoli soup, baked beans, pineapple pork loin! Yum!!
I’m a devoted crockpot girl, so I know this cookbook will get a lot of use.

  36. Rebecca says

ALL of the recipes sound fantastic! But the ones I’m most excited about are the Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes, the Mexican Chicken Chowder, an especially the Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake. OMG, YUM!

  37. Susan H says

Yummy recipes such as Swiss Steak, coconut sweet potatoes and pineapple pork loin would be the first dishes that I would make…not at the same meal, of course :)

  38. Cathy Walker says

I would love to have a more healthy crockpot cookbook. I am also wanting to help my daughter find some easy crockpot meals so she can prepare meals to be ready after work. She works two jobs. One job she is acting store manager for a McDonald’s. She was voted the best manager in our area which is a lot of stores. She just never has time to eat. She doesn’t want to eat the food available. It is not quite the food (if you can call it food) she wants to eat.

  39. Cathy Walker says

    •Cream Cheese Chicken

    2. •Cheesy Sausage Potatoes
    3. •Broccoli Soup

  50. Kim says

yum…. I remember my mom using the crockpot all the time… First recipes I would make would be Mexican Chicken Chowder, Maple Sesame Chicken and the Italian Pot Roast with Noodles – those sound like they would make my hubby very happy!

  51. Gwen B. says

    •Mexican Chicken Spaghetti
    •Cream Cheese Chicken
    •Coconut Sweet Potatoes
These all sound like they’d be a little more unusual than some of the Croc Pot recipes out there. My husband is a professional Chef and I’m on a mission to someday create a Croc Pot meal that he actually appreciates! I’d love to try these. Thanks for sharing!

  52. June says

Maple Sesame Chicken, Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes, and Garlic Smashed Potatoes sound yummy. However, it wouldn’t be a complete list without dessert… So I pick Granola Apples!

  53. says

Only 3? Spicy Creamed Beef, Broccoli soup, and either Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes or Buffalo Joes. I haven’t eaten breakfast yet and this is making me very hungry!

  54. Denise says

    Yum Yum!

  60. anne says

Wow these look great, I would try some of the unusual ones first, guess I’m in the mood for some new dishes like: Pineapple pork loins or the creamy cheesy corn. But the honey baked apples and the white bean & ham soup would definitely be in the top 5.

  61. Jackie says

Would love to try the following (although choosing which 3 was a bit tough!):
Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake
    Enchilada Lasagna
    Mexican Chicken Chowder

  62. Sandy Dolan says

This looks like a great book! I’d like to try the Maple sesame chicken, the black bean lasagna, and the coconut sweet potatoes (just for starters). :)

  63. Susan says

The first three recipes that I would make are Coconut Sweet Potatoes, Pineapple Pork Loin, and Garlic Smashed Potatoes.

  64. Kerry says

    Decisions, decisions! 😉

Though its a tough choice, I’d have to say that Deluxe Potato Soup, Beef and Broccoli and Pumpkin Apple Cake are the ones I’d try first. I’ve heard you can make baked goods in a crockpot, but have never tried it. I had a chuckle at “Garlic Smashed Potatoes”. We never called them ‘mashed’ when we were kids, it was always ‘ smashed potatoes’! Beef and broccoli sounds yummy, too.

I have five crockpots, but one of them is the set of three in one. I’m going to have to start using that one more for sure…..
