The trailer above is from the amazing and life-changing expose about genetically modified (GM) foods from The Institute for Responsible Technology: Genetic Roulette.

You. Must. Watch.

Think you know all about genetically modified foods? Some of the evidence and information in this film will probably surprise you — maybe scare you.

You’ll hear the serious threats to your health from consuming genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

You’ll discover why genetically engineered foods are a major contributor to rising disease rates in the United States in both people and and animals — including gastrointestinal disorders, allergies, inflammatory diseases, and infertility.

You’ll be renewed in your dislike for corporations like Monsanto, who actively hide evidence of these dangers and collaborate with the FDA to shove the dangers under the rug.

Here’s more about the film from its makers:

Are you and your family on the wrong side of a bet?

When the US government ignored repeated warnings by its own scientists and allowed untested genetically modified (GM) crops into our environment and food supply, it was a gamble of unprecedented proportions. The health of all living things and all future generations were put at risk by an infant technology.

After two decades, physicians and scientists have uncovered a grave trend. The same serious health problems found in lab animals, livestock, and pets that have been fed GM foods are now on the rise in the US population. And when people and animals stop eating genetically modified organisms (GMOs), their health improves.

This seminal documentary provides compelling evidence to help explain the deteriorating health of Americans, especially among children, and offers a recipe for protecting ourselves and our future.

Sadly, some people don’t know they’re eating GMOs, why they shouldn’t, or even what to do about it once they find out.

In fact, here’s another video that shows how some Whole Foods staff members are badly misinformed about GMOs in our foods — people you think would know the difference! (Sadly, the video also shows that Whole Foods isn’t interested in perfect honesty when it comes to GMOs.)

This is the kind of information that needs to get out there. So we can protect ourselves — and fight back.

Here’s How to Fight Back

Anyone, anywhere can fight back (as my family is doing) by not eating GMO foods — nor feeding them to livestock and pets.

Anyone, anywhere can fight back by encouraging others to watch the Genetic Roulette movie. You’ve got four choices:

  • Refer friends and family to the website to watch it for a minimum donation of $2.99.
  • Buy a DVD to pass around to friends and family (we bought two for this purpose).
  • Buy a DVD to give away (we bought two more for this purpose… see below).

As I just mentioned, we purchased four copies of the DVD. We plan to keep two, passing them around to friends and family. Like a personal lending library.

The other two we purchased to give away right here on this blog.

Giveaway: Ended

We’re giving away two copies of the Genetic Roulette movie. This giveaway is entirely sponsored by GNOWFGLINS, and open to anyone anywhere. However, the DVDs are in the NTSC format, so depending on where you live, you may have to watch on a computer instead of with a DVD player.

There are three ways to enter.

First (mandatory), leave a comment below sharing what you personally (just you, or you and your family) are going to do about GMOs. Here are just a few examples of how simple or specific your declaration can be:

“I’m going to watch the Genetic Roulette movie to learn more about this issue.”

“My family and I are not going to eat any GM foods.”

“I’m going to stop feeding genetically modified feed to our livestock.”

“I’m going to buy a copy of the Genetic Roulette DVD to share with friends and family.”

Second (optional), like the GNOWFGLINS page on Facebook.

Third (optional), here’s a photo I put on my Facebook page. Click here to go to it, then click on “Share” to share it on your wall or page.

Use the widget below to record each entry. If you neglect to fill out the widget, you won’t be entered. The widget makes it MUCH easier for me to select winners!

  1. Vicki DiIoia says

We are careful about what we bring home, but really need to be much more so when we eat out. I don’t think there is any restaurant where we live that will say it’s GMO free, hard as it is.

  2. says

I watched the other day. I really need to be more careful in what I feed myself and my families. I probably eat more GMO’s because I cannot eat wheat. I hope I win this. I want to pass it around to all my friends and get my hubby to watch it.

  3. Debbie D. says

In an attempt to keep GMO’s out of my home, I buy as much locally and know the farmers. I will then can or freeze my products for future use, or even dehydrate. When it’s an item I can’t buy local, I am part of an organic coop and buy much of my food there. I try to know the philosophy of the companies I purchase from. It’s very important for me to know exactly what I’m feeding my family and to do everything in my power to ensure it’s safe and healthy.

  4. Lori O'Leary says

Our famly feels very strongly about this issue. We donate when we can to Millions Against Monsanto and gently share our concerns on this topic with people we meet. It’s all about just getting the word out. Education like in this video…WOW!!!

  5. Terri O. says

I am trying to do what I can to help keem GMO foods out of my family’s diet. We are new to this and taking baby steps so that we are not overwhelmed.

  6. Michelle says

I work hard at making sure all the food that comes in our home is not GM. We eat a primarily organic, whole food diet and subscribe to a local CSA for wonderful organic or non-GM traditionally grown produce. I’m also trying to educate my parents about the dangers of GM foods. They’re not getting it at all and I am concerned for their future health. I would love to share this DVD with them.

  7. Joellen says

I’m just now learning about this issue. I was raised to believe that GM was not a big deal–just the same as naturally breeding crops for different characteristics, but sped up using a lab. We’ve started buying organic wheat to grind for bread and organic, non-GMO popcorn, but we have a lot more to learn and do.

  8. Robbie Wood says

    I have watched Genetic Roulette.
I feel very strong about this subject. It is about a lot more than our rights,it is our life, and future.
I support and buy locally from Farmers Markets.
I also grow some of our own food in a clean, pesticide free environment. I do not use any GM seeds or plants in my garden.
We buy organic foods and do not support GMO foods or have them in our home.
I share the posts on Facebook and in mail to help educate others about this huge problem we are facing.
Thank you for this giveaway. 😉 I’d love to be able to share the movie with friends and family

  9. Leslie says

Thank you for this information. I’m new to this issue but already buy locally & organically from farmers and orchard growers who I know. Barbara Kingsolver’s book “Animal, Vegetable, Miracle” got me started several years ago, but it’s difficult to know if the veggies I buy are actually free from GMOs. Thanks again.

  10. Paula says

I am just learning about gmo’s and what to eat and not to eat. I would love to have a copy of this DVD to educate myself, my family and friends. I am also trying to become self sustaining. Thank you. I enjoy getting your emails everyday.

  11. Brittany Ardito says

I do my absolute best to avoid GMO foods for my family. I buy all of our meat through a local farm who uses no herbicides, pesticides or GMO feed. All of the animals are pasteured as well. I buy my produce from my local Farmer’s Market during market season. Other items that I cannot find organic in my local store I buy through Greenling or Amazon. I buy very little processed food for my family and we try to stick to a grain free diet. I have already watched the Genetic Roulette movie and intend to buy a copy to pass around to friends and family if I do not win a copy here :-)

  12. Gina says

I have been very passionate about traditional eating since the birth of my first son. We have almost entirely eliminated all GMO food from our diets by sourcing our food well and being informed. Genetic Roulette was a great reminder about why we so this and why we spend the time and money for our health. I am continuing to ensure any food we bring into our home is GMO free and have already shared this documentary a lot, most recently with my parents who were amazed. I will continue sharing and would love to win a copy, I was just saying the other day I wanted to have a bunch of good documentaries on hand for my family and to lend to friends. I do this with my birth work and am always amazed how one simple thing can make a huge change in someone else’s life.

  13. Laura says

We try really hard not to eat any GMOs. We’ve watched the movie and I would love to share it with friends and family

  14. Mira says

My husband and I will be watching it tonight. I already don’t eat GM food but we need to more more informed and even more convinced!!

  15. says

Hi, Wardeh: I’m going to watch the Genetic Roulette movie TODAY to learn more about this issue. Additionally, my family and I are not going to eat any GM foods. I wish I lived in California so I could vote on the latest proposition to require GMO labeling to be placed on foods that contain GMO foods!

Really enjoy your blog! Keep up the great job you do!

Blessings to you and your family! :)

  16. Denise says

I donated to Food Democracy Now. They are a organization that is trying to get Proposition 37 passed in California and they also help defend farmers from Monsanto. I also have stopped eating wheat, HFCS and soy. Three major sources of GMO. Thanks for having this giveaway.

  17. Mel says

We are already very aware of GMOs but I am sure this movie can enlighten us even more. We regularly share our knowledge with others, attempting to educate them at to what GMOs are and the hazards of having this in our food and ecosystem. Additionally, we are careful in our food selection as well as that for our family animals (including our livestock). Thank you for this opportunity to win a free DVD!

  18. Karen says

Our family has been making a lot of things from scratch to avoid GMO’s. We do our best to avoid any corn and soy products even as ingredients in what we make from scratch.

  19. Angela says

I will not feed my family genetically modified food.
I try hard to avoid it now, but movies like this remind me of the importance of avoiding it all together.

  20. Julie says

I plan to watch this movie and avoid GMO as much as possible for my family. I’ve been working to avoid it when I know it’s there, but I’m afraid it’s more prevalent than I realize.

  21. Barbara Sibley says

I am so ready to change my eating to eliminate gmos. I have had a bad feeling for years about our foods. So when I had to have heart surgery I decided to do something about it. This dvd will help. thanks

  22. says

Freeky! I started watching the movie and only 10 minutes in I know I have to share this with my friends! We haven’t been eating GMO for quite a while, but the more people are aware of this, the less will think it’s okay.

  23. Kristie says

I try to make sure we do not eat gmo’s. Now I am going to be working on my husband’s food when he is at work because I do not want him eating gmo’s there either! If I win I will try to educate more friends and family on the danger of gmo’s. The movie was very good!!

  24. Susan Jonell Roragen says

I already try to avoid GMOs, but did watch this movie and am now trying to make friends understand better what’s wrong with our food, and us. Would love to have a DVD to share with them!

  25. Jennifer says

My family is trying to prepare our food from what we grow ourselves organically and what we purchase organically. If that is not possible, we try to buy what specifically states it is non-GMO. I try to spread the word among friends and family as well.

  26. Teri says

I will not eat any GMO food, feed it to my family or any of our animals or livestock! I will work to educate as many people as I can and refer everyone I know to this movie!

  27. M.C. says

My family and I are going to try to spread the word about GMOs to as many people as possible, refuse to buy GMOs, watch “Genetic Roulette” and gather as much information as we can to stay up to date on what’s happening with GMOs and the companies that support them/use them in their products.

  28. Micah says

I do not purchase anything containing GMO’s but we surely eat them when eating at other homes or church, or the rare occasion that we eat out.

  29. April says

I am emailing all of my major food companies asking about GMOs. I’m also supporting committees and petitions supporting proposition 37!

  30. Lynne says

I try to avoid all GMO foods/products. We don’t eat out very often but when we do, we try to eat at places that serve some fresh and locally produced foods but there is no guarantee the foods are non-GMO.

  31. Noahla says

We buy our vegetables from a CSA. We drink raw milk and eat eggs and meat from a local farm. We buy Mostly organic fruit. We buy organic grain and grind it to make our own baked goods. we grew a small garden this year. We recycle and reuse. thanks!!

  32. Sue Hanley says

My husband and I do not (knowingly!) eat any GM food. Only organics enter our household! I need to eat gluten-free, which often contains corn — a huge risk for GMO corn, so everyone check closely, or avoid foods with corn! I try to post info on Facebook, plus email friends who don’t Facebook — eating GMO = poisoning yourself. Thanks for this news, and all the info that you deliver, GNOWFGLINS!

  33. Heather says

I have been very careful not to purchase GMO corn and soybean product…which has been hard, since they’re in all sorts of products. I’m growing my own veggies, and have tried to spread the word on Pinterest and Facebook about GMO’s.

  34. ellens says

i hope to be able to watch the movie. i’m assuming it will be wonderful…at which point i hope to be able to share with otherr

  35. Jessica says

Want to see this video. We live overseas (military) and will request our commissary stock organic corn….I realize that there are many other GMOs in our grocery store, but this is one little step I can take. We avoid GMOs as much as possible with our purchases, but corn is the most difficult one.

  36. says

It is frustrating for me as I am a single (adoptive) mom with health issues and not a great income so I really have to struggle to buy organic foods, but I do try to do apples and sometimes onions are okay. I only buy organic frozen corn and we just don’t eat a lot. I try to make others aware and get more interested because if we rise up together something will get done. But most don’t seem interested, which is sad. But I will keep trying! We live on a heavily wooded lot and had no success with a garden, but next year I plan to do more to seek out local farms. We found a blueberry guy who doesn’t spray pesticides so that was something! We ate those as much as we could.

  37. Robin says

We will be trying to grow our own veggies from non-GMO seeds and raising our own beef and chicken without any GMO added to their feed.

  38. Erin says

We love making nachos but stopped buying Tostitos tortilla chips. I found a delicious organic brand called Way Better. They also use sprouted ingredients!

  39. Hannah Elise says

I would love to find ways to feed fewer GM crops to our livestock… since organic feed is 3x the $$ at our local feed store, I’m not entirely sure how to go about doing this on our very tight budget…

  40. Stephanie C says

My family and I have been working on not buying GMO food for almost a year now. We have a garden to grow our own veggies and soon to be fruit and herbs. I’m hoping to watch this movie so I can educate what foods GMO’s are in. I make everything at home. I can veggies, meat, jams and tomatoes. In 3yrs we are hoping to purchase land and become self-sustainable. Thank you so much for this awesome website!

  41. Laurie White says

What would be clever is for anyone who owns a blog is to make up a totally natural no-GMO food list especially for people who are on food stamps to use each week. If people can use their food stamps card then there would be more companies listening. My sister in law might even jump into this campaign if she found a list like this and could truly feed her family of 5 from the list. Does anyone already do this? I’m concerned for people like my sister-in-law. How can they jump onto our band wagon? I’m even more concerned for my niece and mother who have so much of these allergies GMO has caused for them in their lives and they didn’t know. It would be really funny for them to jump on this with their food cards, government fought with their own money tickles me pink!

Whatever is righteous, God is in the midst. Whoever He is for who can be against? Praise God.

  42. Anita says

After watching half the movie so far, I will be extra careful about what I buy and eat. Monsanto has created a plague!

  43. says

Thank you so much for sharing this link. I’ve been reading “Seeds of Deception” and have been outraged. It’s time to buckle down and give only organic feed to my animals. I called the company that makes my favorite corn tortillas today to ask if their corn was GMO. I’m happy to report that Juanita’s uses non-GMO corn. Woo. Hoo. Now I have to make a phone call to the place where I buy our alfalfa for our dairy goats. Ugh. Stop the madness.

  44. Andrea In SLC says

We watched this last night. Frightening!

We already have been trying to decrease the GMOs in our diet and we will try even harder now!

I also emailed the link to our friends who sell grass-fed beef, pastured pigs and chickens, and raw milk, and thanked them for what they are doing.

  45. says

oh and I posted too fast: what I do is shop local, organic farmers and avoid products with corn or soy products in them at every turn. It’s not always easy, but for my health and for this world, it’s worthwhile.

  46. says

We are trying to avoid GM foods and educating our family about the dangers. We’re also trying to write letters to Congressmen when the bills come up addressing the licensing of various GM products.

  47. Amy says

We avoid GMOs as much as possible by growing much of our food, cooking most things from scratch, and buying from local farmers who we know and trust.

  48. Tiina says

We are making some major changes about what food comes into our homes and our mouths.I want to watch this movie to learn more about this.

  49. teresa says

I have been talking about this movie non-stop for the past 3 days, sending emails to others, asking websites to post links to the movie.
The bulk of my family’s diet is made from scratch. We belong to a coop and buy organic bulk items. I try to buy direct from farmers as much as I can afford to. We have 3 chickens we let roam the yard and I buy the rest of my eggs from a friend. When we do go to the grocery store it is for very specific items that I know (to the best of my understanding) don’t contain gmos. Food search & prep (& o geez clean up) is very time & labor intensive, sometimes I am out right exhausted and discouraged I don’t have time for much else, but the film maker believes it only takes 5% of the population to make a dent in the profits of companies using ge ingredients and they will change their marketing strategy to meet demands so they can increase their profits again. So lets make them change, don’t buy their garbage and then let’s kick Monsanto to the curb!

  50. says

We farm and have found out that the corn stalks take longer to decompose (up to 10 years longer) we have switched to non GMO crops and feed out cattle with what we grow.
We have seen a big difference in our soil quality in the 3 years that we have planted non GMO.
I look forward to seeing this video.
Please everyone spread the word it is of the utmost importance!!

  51. Susie says

This is even far worse than I thought! Thank you for bringing this video to our attention. I plan to continue to spread the word.

  52. Wyatt says

We have been eating non-GMO in our family of five for a couple of years now. After watching the movie (thanks for putting that here!), I have decided to write my legislators regarding GMOs. I will also be watching to see how the California measure goes; it would be nice to use it as a template in our state.

  53. Melissa says

I would love to win a copy of “Genetic Roulette.” I would love to be able to have more non GMO options for animal feed – it is expensive.
