Coming: Sandwich Round-Up

Next Friday, please join me for a Sandwich Round-Up! And here it is! Sandwich Round-Up.

During this season of the year, we’re doing more outside, perhaps going on picnics or having days at the park. This kind of weather and partaking in spring time activities makes me crave lighter, cooler meals – especially sandwiches! They’re portable, delicious, full of flavor, (hopefully) healthy, and easy to make. Plus I just love them! If you asked me what my favorite food is, I would say “a good sandwich.” So let’s get together and share all our sandwich ideas.

Here’s how the Sandwich Round-Up will work. You’ll make a post on your blog next Friday, the 23rd of April, 2010. Then come back here to link up your post. I’ll have an official Sandwich Round-Up post waiting for you on that day to feature everyone’s sandwiches. If you don’t have a blog, you can share your sandwich ideas in the comments. :)

In the Sandwich Round-Up, we’re going to use the awesome new thumbnail linky from MckLinky (now linkytools.com). You get to include a thumbnail image of your post along with the link! Check out the last Tuesday Twister to see how great this feature works and looks.

What can you post? Any sandwich! Reuben, egg salad, fish, a good burger, whatever sandwich you please… Or several sandwiches, if you’d like. Start thinking now about what you’ll share and I’ll see you here next Friday for the Sandwich Round-Up. I can’t wait. I hope you’ll join me!

On a related note, if you’re planning get-togethers or events now that the weather is warming up, be sure to check out Kelly the Kitchen Kop’s Real Food Party Planning Guide. I recently read it, and am impressed with Kelly’s attention to detail and thorough planning help. She didn’t forget anything — she even reminds you to charge your camera batteries the day before your party! I also loved the extensive list of links to real food recipes, recipes that are both delicious and healthy. Her party planning guide is a steal at only $8, and for a limited time she’s offering both the party guide and her real food ingredient guide together for for $10. By the way, I don’t receive any compensation for recommending Kelly’s guides to you. I just think they are great. :)

I don’t know if I’ll be “around” to participate on the correct day, so thought I’d tell you my favorite summer sandwhich:

2 slices toast made from my whole wheat sourdough bread
    homemade mayo
    a few fresh basil leaves
slices of fresh ripe home grown tomatoes

This is my answer to the BLT !!! and I love it!

My favourite sandwich comes a little later in the summer when the tomatoes are ripe and the basil is ready. It’s similar to Yolanda’s but you add cheese and grill it. Not exactly portable but oh so good!

    Grilled cheese with pizzaz!

Wardeh, do you know the song, “Sandwiches are beautiful, sandwiches are fine!” I think Fred Penner sang it. He’s a children’s entertainer.
    .-= Marg´s last blog post… That’s a BIG egg! =-.
