My Tuesday Twister posts are my weekly round-up of what’s going on in my kitchen and our lives, as it pertains to GNOWFGLINS. We try as much as possible to make use of “God’s natural, organic, whole foods, grown locally and in season.” So here we go – I’ll catch you up on what’s twisting in my kitchen this week!

- Jerky – Made more jerky this week with our grass-fed ground beef. We really prefer the jerky made with ground beef as it is not tough to chew. There is one person in my family with sensitive teeth and another with braces, so…
- Pizza – Topped with jerky (yes! it tastes a bit like pepperoni), olives, and queso fresco, and using sourdough for the crust, we loved this pizza! (Here are some details about the dough, from my first attempt at homemade pizza using sourdough.)
- The Best Chocolate Ice Cream – Oh, man! Now that I’ve figured out how to really use my Cuisinart ice cream maker (only took me a year and a half), the ice cream is amazing. This ice cream is made from: cream, vanilla, cocoa powder, egg yolks, and unrefined sugar. Soon it is going to join the Basic Recipes lineup.
- Chocolate Syrup – This turned out so yummy, so I’ll be sharing it soon.
- Rice and Lentil Salad – It is so hard to take a pretty picture of lentils! (Not unlike the difficulties of photographing jerky. Ick.) But regardless of its lacking photogenics (or a skilled photographer), we enjoyed this cold grain salad. I used up leftover rice and lentils, and added two of my homemade cheeses, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, olives and herbs and salt for seasoning. More on cold grain salads (an adaptable formula).
- Spelt Crackers – We love these crackers and I hadn’t made them for awhile. So I made up a batch to eat with our salad and beef stew (Monday’s holiday lunch). In the comments of the recipe post, Jessie shared her variations for these crackers, and how she used the unsprouted flour and soak option.
- Minimal-Knead Sourdough – (not pictured) I am finally trying Millie’s method for minimal knead sourdough bread. I started it yesterday. An update will for sure be in next week’s twister. Along with (hopefully) how it went making her sourdough pitas.
So, that’s it for me – what’s twisting in your kitchen? To participate in the Tuesday Twister Blog Carnival, visit this post.

Everything looks so good I don’t know where to start!
If you don’t have a recipe for jerky in your blog yet, I’d love to see it! I didn’t see it linked in this post. I just got my dehydrator and jerky is on my list of things to try. We never have any snack food around here and I think that would be good!
Kate, I haven’t put it up yet, but I will soon! It is great to have jerky around.

Jerkey on pizza!! Wardeh you are brilliant. I have been buying ‘healthy’ pepperoni but really want an alternatve. I am looking forward to that post.
You are right that lentils are not photogenic. Even less photogenic than lentils are refried beans.

This is all making me so hungry!
Thanks for the tip here about not filling your ice-cream maker too full! I have a Krups brand and had noticed the same soupiness to our ice cream before. But tonight, I was careful not to overfill it, and—voila!—much better results!

That’s great, Sonya.
