Before I share details about the upcoming Gallery of Christmas Cookies, I’d like to ask you to pray for us! Oregon has been so cold lately; we woke up yesterday morning to no water. There was ice in the 2500 gallon storage tank (!!) and in the pressure tank. My husband stayed home from work, even stayed home from going out of town for a few days to a work/staff meeting. We corrected some of the issues, but by the end of the day we still couldn’t get water up to the house; frozen pipes somewhere. My husband worked hard the last few weeks insulating everything, only to find it all freeze up anyway. Discouraging.
Currently – and thankfully! – we are able to get water right out of the pressure tank, which we carry up to the house for minimal use. I feel like we’re living in another era! The kitchen was such a disaster yesterday. I spent the whole day outside with Jeff, and the kids didn’t do the dishes (no water), so you can imagine what the kitchen looked like after a day’s worth of meals and then some. We stayed up late doing the dishes in basins of water. I told Jeff I couldn’t face today with the kitchen like that.
Anyway, it would be great if you would pray for us to get the water back on! Now, to the details about the Gallery of Christmas Cookies. It is going to be another gallery-style post, like the Gallery of Soups and the Gallery of Thanksgiving Sides.
How to Participate
- Make a post on your blog on Monday, December 14, sharing a Christmas Cookie (or dessert) recipe featuring GNOWFGLINS foods – God’s, natural, organic, whole foods, and if possible grown locally and in season – as best you can.
- Feel free to use the Gallery of Christmas Cookies button, which is here: http://gnowfglins.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/gallery-christmas-cookies.jpg
- Include a link in your post to my Gallery of Christmas Cookies post. The post and its URL will be made visible very early in the morning of Monday, December 14.
- Leave a comment on Monday’s post, sharing the link/URL to your recipe post.
If your post includes a picture, I’ll grab it and put it in the Gallery and link it to your recipe. If you don’t have a picture, that’s okay, too, I’ll use a stockphoto as a placeholder for your recipe.
If you’re not a blogger, I still welcome your recipes! Leave them in the comments of Monday’s post. I’ll put a placeholder picture in the gallery and link it to your recipe.
Let me know if you have questions. I can’t wait to see what recipes you’ll share! I’ve been working on a couple myself.

I can’t wait for the cookies!!!!! Please, please hurry!!! lol
Connie – Me, too! Bring it on, everyone!
Oh, I will definitely pray for your water situation! We had a problem with our well two days before last Thanksgiving, we called the plumber and didn’t hear back until the day before Thanksgiving… we were boiling bottled water on the stove to wash dishes so that we could try to clean the house for company! I feel your pain. Hopefully you will have water soon so YOU can make some Christmas cookies!

I love your video of running goats! My dad says goats homogenize their milk when they run to the stanchion
Isn’t the frozen water problem ridicules? Water pipes above the ground…!
So far this week I’ve had a heating pad wrapped around the pipes and today I made a tent of old blankets and a tarp with a light bulb underneath for a heat source. Presently we do have running water (now quick! get some dishes done!)

Prayers for you Wardeh, God Bless. We’re in a deep freeze, too. I can’t imagine why our ducks haven’t frozen yet.
So sorry about your water problems. We’ve recently put in a well, and have just discovered the many issues that water presents! I had always taken water for granted, but when you realize just how precious it is … wow.
Wardeh – will pray! So frustrating! May God’s goodness still be evident to you in your trial, which in the end will be light & momentary (though I’m sure doesn’t seem like it now)
I know what it’s like to go without running water too. We had problems with our well a few years ago and it was 9 mons. before it was resolved. I know you won’t be without that long but it is just as big a pain. Yes, you do learn to appreciate running water. I also appreciated how hard the pioneers worked for these things we take for granted.
I’m interested in seeing the gallery of cookies. I have never seen a ‘real food’ cookie.
Oh my! I just read your post and I hope you have water today! I will pray for you and am looking forward to the gallery of Christmas cookies!

Thank you, all for your prayers!
We have running water today and we are praising the Lord. We feel really worn out from working in cold conditions and panic mode for many hours. There is still some work to be done, but thankfully the temps are warming up and we can see the end in sight.
Marg, 9 months? Without running water? You are an amazing woman!!!!
I would love to enjoy the recipes from the Gallery of Christmas Cookies, but I don’t have any recipes to share as we are just beginning our journey into GF/DF living and I do not have a blog as I am technology challenged. If there is another way to benefit from the recipes please let me know. Thank you!
Susie
Susie – even if you don’t have one to share, you’ll be able to benefit from viewing the recipes when they’re posted on Monday. Recipes will probably be added throughout the day, as people get their posts up. I’m hoping for a good turnout! (Hint, hint, everyone!)
