Welcome to the Tuesday Twister Blog Carnival! The theme of this blog carnival is to share, through words and pictures, what’s twisting in our kitchens during the past week – with real foods, of course. At a minimum our foods should be real and whole, and optionally be naturally-raised, organic, local and/or seasonal. I cannot wait to see what’s been twisting in your kitchens!
How to Participate
- Publish a Tuesday Twister post on your blog. Include a link to this post: http://gnowfglins.com/2009/11/10/tuesday-twister-blog-carnival-2009-11-10/
- Come back here and add your name and the URL of your blog post in the MckLinky list (at end of this post).
- Next to your name, you have the option of putting a brief description in parentheses, such as: Wardeh @ GNOWFGLINS (Pancakes – Red Palm Oil Salmon – Chocolate Frosting – And More!)
- Leave a comment on this post. This is optional, but important. Sometimes links get lost, or I need to email you about something.
- Check out the other posts linked in the MckLinky list – let’s encourage and enjoy each other’s twister posts!
See here for answers to many questions and ideas for the Tuesday Twister Blog Carnival. If you don’t have a blog, please feel welcome to share what’s twisting in your kitchen in the comments below.
Add the Tuesday Twister Image to Your Blog
If you wish to add the Tuesday Twister graphic to your blog post (optional), here’s how.
- Right click on the Tuesday Twister graphic, and choose “Save As” or “Save Image As.”
- Save it to your computer in the desired folder.
- Use your blog program to upload it and insert it into your post.
- (Optional) Link the image to this post: http://gnowfglins.com/2009/11/10/tuesday-twister-blog-carnival-2009-11-10/
Alternately, you may include the following image code in your post, which will not only pull the graphic from this website, but also link back to this post:
<a href=”http://gnowfglins.com/2009/11/10/tuesday-twister-blog-carnival-2009-11-10/“><img title=”tuesdaytwister” src=”http://gnowfglins.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/tuesdaytwister.JPG” alt=”tuesdaytwister” width=”200” height=”200” />

Take the guesswork out of what to fix, what to buy and what to prepare. This week:
Class materials compiled into easy downloads:
Lacto Fermenting in a Water Bath for Even Temperature
I started lacto-fermenting for the first time this year & didn’t really put two & two together about the seasonality of such an enterprise. (Just a newbie!). So it hit me this fall that I our house gets COLD – not so easy to lacto-ferment. In the winter we keep it at 55 degrees a lot of the time, but certainly no higher than 65. What to do?
My husband is an amatuer photographer & he has a water bath for developing film – that you can keep to an even temperature. So I used it for lacto-fermenting!! And it worked well. I put the mason jars in & kept the temp about 74 degrees. It barely took any power and was safe to leave unattended. (I could probably fit in 6-8 quart jars at a time).
I imagine I could have tried lacto-fermenting at 65 degrees, but I didn’t think 55 would work.
Next year, hopefully we can figure out some long-term storage so I can do more during the summer (and by then some other items taking time may be reduced – so I’d have more time to spend preserving food).
Jessie – That is awesome! Very creative! Thanks for sharing it in this week’s Tuesday Twister.
Squash Coloradito, Lamb Keftedes, Penang Goat Curry, Duck Fat-Fried Sweet Potato Chips and Thai Red Pumpkin & Carrot Curry.
I’m going to get that Mr Linky thing right one of these weeks, darn it!
Thanks, Wardeh
