We’re Back!

Hey, everyone! I missed you all!

I just want to do a quick Saturday post to let you know that Jeff and I are back from our Montana vacation. We left the kids with my parents for another week, though. They’re going to have a great time, and perhaps, lighten up the pace a bit. When Jeff and I were there, we tried to cram as much as we could into the time we had.

We had a fabulous time, spending most of it in Glacier National Park, camping and hiking. As a family, and along with my parents, we went on a 10-mile hike one day to Upper Two Medicine Lake, in East Glacier. Jeff and I took two more challenging hikes on our own – to Cobalt Lake, in the Two Medicine area; and the Siyeh Pass Trail, in the St. Mary area. We saw incredible, gorgeous scenery and wildlife.

My parents have a newly remodeled kitchen and it was fun to work in there. I indoctrinated my mom and dad with info about kefir and sourdough bread. They’re devoted fans now! My mom made us wonderful meals, and both my mom and dad bent over backward to help us make the most of our trip. Thank you!

I put up a bunch of pictures of our trip over at Facebook, and they’re publicly viewable, if you’d care to see:

Now, what’s coming up at gnowfglins this week…  ? Well, on Monday, I have a real food fictional quote to share from a book I borrowed from my mom. Then on Tuesday, the Tuesday Twister is back! Coming soon, I’m planning something special for newsletter subscribers, so if you haven’t yet subscribed to the newsletter, here’s your reminder to do so. :)

Finally, I created a 404 (error) page for gnowfglins.com not too long ago. I was inspired to make an error page because the developer of the Hybrid theme framework (the theme that runs this website) offered a contest for who could create the smartest, coolest, funniest 404 page. I made my 404 page, submitted it, and found out on my return from Montana that the polls are open for the contest. I’d love it if you’d visit the poll page, browse the thirteen entries, and choose the one that you think is the smartest, coolest, and funniest. You don’t have to vote for mine – only if you think it is worthy.

See you again on Monday!

Welcome home sweet Wardeh!! I am interested to know how your traveling whole food menu went, did you find it adequate? Or did you have to supplement it on the the way out or back?

Mona – it was a little challenging, but not too much, because my mom and dad have a great whole foods kitchen. The worst part was finding good raw milk – or even organic – we couldn’t find any. The grocery store milk was all ultra-pasteurized and homogenized and not much else. I’m not surprised by this, it was only shocking because I haven’t shopped for milk for many years. We went without milk until we got our own dairy goats. The good thing is that I found a health food store where we could buy local eggs. So we ate lots of those! :)
