My Tuesday Twister posts are my weekly round-up of what’s going on in my kitchen and our lives, as it pertains to food. So here we go – I’ll catch you up on what’s twisting in the kitchen this week!

  • Roast Beef and Millet Salad – We love our cold grain salads. This one, with cold roast beef and millet, is just one that we enjoyed last weekend. On it I included the feta cheese that had been stored in olive oil. The cheese was okay. It definitely wasn’t salty enough, so I had to salt the pieces again after taking them out of the jars. Even so, we enjoyed it. I can’t wait to try the feta that is still aging in the fridge – next week, we’ll open that one up!
  • Circle Biscuits – Just to change things up a bit, I shaped our sprouted spelt biscuits into little discs for our lunch and dinner yesterday.
  • Kefir Cheese -I hung kefir up to let the whey drip out to use in pickled beets. Then I served the kefir cheese to the kiddoes at lunch yesterday and pretended it was chevre. Haniya and Mikah could tell it was different, but they ate it anyway. Naomi was not having it. She knew it was kefir and did not trust me. She ate a little ‘cuz I made her and ‘cuz she’s a good girl. I’m such a bad mom. (By the way, I loved it. It was like labneh to me!)
  • Butter – A friend is going to share some cream from the raw cow’s milk she buys. So I am going to make butter this week and I can’t wait! I might do it cultured. Umm…
  • Kids Headed to California – The kids are about to make their yearly trek to Gramma’s house in California; they leave next week. I am only sending a few things with them. Some ready-to-go mixes for sprouted spelt biscuits/scones. Some coconut oil (for the biscuits and using like butter). Some goat cheese. Perhaps some other things, too. I better make a better list.

So, that’s it for me – what’s twisting in your kitchen? I would love to hear!
