Sprouted Spelt Bread. Michelle shared that she skipped the dehydrating of sprouted wheat berries before turning them into Easy Artisan Bread with Sprouted Grains. Jami tried it also. And this weekend, I did, too. My loaves turned out okay. I added a little water to the food processor when grinding up the sprouted spelt berries. I would say I used about 1 cup of water with 3 cups of sprouted berries. I did this twice, then added about 1-1/2 tablespoons yeast and 2 teaspoons sea salt it all. The baking… well, they still were somewhat gooey inside after 1 hour and 10 minutes at 375 degrees. We’ve been having toast.
I don’t know. I guess this is promising. But certainly not there yet.
Regina’s Healthy No-Bake Oatmeal Cookies. I made the cookies this weekend using homemade peanut butter instead of almond butter. I noticed that with peanut butter, less oats are required. Meaning, just the 6 cups of oats. The sauce tends to harden faster, so you have to be quicker about getting the cookies on the tray. I am also adding 1 cup of shredded unsweetened coconut and 1-1/2 cups of raisins to the cookies.
Upcoming. I have been following myself around in the kitchen, taking videos of many of the things that I do. Compiling them and presenting them will take me some time, but I want you to know they are in the works. I’m still working out in my mind how to do everything. But in the meantime, I will frequently be sharing selected clips with you.
Recipes to Try. Lately, I have found great inspiration at other blogs. I would like to try these recipes:
- Fluffy Whole Wheat Biscuits from The Nourishing Gourmet (a really lovely blog!) – I plan to use sprouted spelt flour for these.
- Nourishing and Scrumptious “Mounds” Candy Bars, also from The Nourishing Gourmet
- Homemade Ginger Soda, from Sustainable Eats (another lovely blog!) – I cannot wait to make this! I am going to get some organic ginger this week when we are out.

Aren’t the fluffy biscuits wonderful. I love Nourishing Gourment. Sustainable Eats is new to me and it looks interesting. Lots of gardening stuff there that I MUST check out. I am trying to nurse along 18 organic heirloom tomatoe plants from California until I’m sure it’s warm enough to plant them. Ordered them early to get a 12 free seed packet offer. I have already planted lots of greens. When you get a garden, grow Kale. It’s so nutritious and easy to grow. I hadn’t tried it until 3 years ago (I don’t know why). I freeze it and dump it into soup all winter. God Bless Your Day, dear Wardeh!
Hi, Mary! I am really excited to make those biscuits, they look fantastic. Have you made them?
I do want to grow kale. We buy it from the Farmer’s Market each week. I would so love to grow my own. Good for you on all the gardening plans! I’m jealous of your tomatoes. Why California? Did you just take a trip there?
