Localvore: Fresh Oregon Foods

I’ve got my eye on a new store coming to Sutherlin, Oregon, one of the towns closest to where we live. Sutherlin is where we go each week to piano lessons and to the Farmer’s Market.

This is the best picture I could get yesterday, while driving past it. ;) The new store, promising to specialize in  local and natural foods — produce, meats, dairy, eggs, nuts, seeds, and even personal care products — is nestled in between Sutherlin Drugs and Pawprints Grooming & Pet Photography on Central Avenue.

In the picture, the tree obscures the subtitle of Localvore’s name: “Fresh Oregon Foods.” It will be opening this spring and we plan to be some of the first customers!

It sounds like a great new store!

    Lucky you!

Hello! I’m happy to see this picture of Localvore online. We’ll be opening at the end of the first week of June. (Would have liked to open already but ran into some issues… still have to meet the Oregon Dept of Agriculture, so the date may change again, but hopefully not!) I am a member of Weston A Price Foundation, too. Nourishing Traditions is a great book. We’ll have mostly Oregon produced foods, but a few things that aren’t exactly grown in Oregon but are produced here and fit WAPF traditional food criteria. Hope to see you soon!

Hi, Larisa! How fun to hear from you just how the store is going. We’re eager for when you open. I look every time I drive through Sutherlin on Wed afternoons. It is also nice to meet someone else in the area who appreciates traditional foods – even though I read NT many years ago, it is only recently that we have really embraced it. Do you ever go up to the Eugene chapter events?

I have visited the “Localvore”. The store and Larisa are a welcomed breath of fresh air. Upbeat, pleasant, refreshing and it’s Natural! Nice to see local products from within our area in her store.

Rose – thanks for sharing how you like Localvore. I agree! I have enjoyed my visits there too. I am so glad she’s open. Each week, we’ve been trying a new type of local sausage. Our favorite is the lamb sausage with rosemary – wow! Larissa is a super person to know. I really hope her store is successful; our area needs a venue like this!
