Care and Cleaning of Stainless Steel Pots and Pans

Don’t be rough with your stainless steel pots and pans! Use a non-abrasive scrubber. A bamboo pot scraper helps scrape off chunks. For stubborn messes, fill the pot with a bit of water and sprinkle in a generous bit of baking soda, then let it all soak for about 15 minutes to help loosen up the stuck on foods. You can even add more water and simmer the water and baking soda mixture gently to further loosen stubborn messes.

The danger with scratching your pots is not only unsightly, unattractive damage to the pots, but I read that a scratched surface allows impurities in the metal to get into your food when cooking. I can’t find the source where I read that, but I’ll try to find it and share it. It is escaping me at the moment.
