I don't believe I've ever heard it before. I too have been canning tomatoes; I planted heirloom varieties this spring and have been blessed with many, many tomatoes. At the rate I'm going, I may never run out of canned plum and tomato goodies! :) <em>That's wonderful! I only meant by that that my friend is passing along organic tomatoes that are extra from a farm around here. She "knows" a guy and gives me some of what she gets. One year I canned 80qt and It was a lot of work. I vowed not to do so much ever again. I used them over two years and loved every meal. I hope you get all that you would like to have. I have been eating one-two tomatoes a day. I hope my body doesn't get to acidic. can it? I love canning, have fun. <em>Wow! That's alot of jars... Speaking of jars, I'm using yours. :D They are really coming in handy! I was able to can 11 quarts yesterday and it took alllll day. But it was fun.
