I bought Five Spice Powder, pre-mixed, several years ago. Now I can’t find it locally. I could have ordered it from somewhere on the internet, but then I would be paying for shipping. Why shouldn’t I mix it myself? So I did.Really simple. Mix equal amounts of:
*ground anise
*ground pepper
*ground cinnamon
*ground cloves
*ground fennel
If any of the spices are whole, grind them separately in a spice mill, blender or coffee grinder. Make sure they’re finely ground.
Store the mixed spices in an airtight container.
I use Five Spice Powder in hot cereal and in muffins. It is often used as a rub for grilled meats and as an addition in marinades. Try it… you’ll like it!
