  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  1. I make banana shakes almost the same way, but I don’t use honey. I love how the frozen bananas make it all slushy. :)

  2. Wardeh says:

Sylvia, what do you use in your shakes? Do you not sweeten it at all? I would have used agave syrup instead of honey, but we’re all out at the moment.

I love the texture of frozen bananas in shakes, too.

  3. I use an artificial sweetener or sugar. We just don’t like the taste of honey in most foods. :(
    Still searching for agave syrup…….

Mmmmmmm, this sounds so good! Thanks for the recipe. I’m going to try it soon. I love chocolate and banana together!

We will have to try that! Your recipes are so much fun. I have even passed them on to two other friends, one who buys my soap and one whom I buy organic/natural items from some months. :) I am glad we stocked up on agave syrup when we went to Wild Oats. We use it quite a bit. Next time we’ll get the bigger bottles.

Great recipe! I’m sorry that I haven’t visited in a while – gonna spend some time catching up on my favorite blogs! Thanks for sharing the recipe, Wardeh!

I made this for my family tonight and they loved it! I used 2% milk and replaced the honey with just 1 teaspoon of sugar. My dh was requesting that I make more but we didn’t have anymore bananas.

Tina, that’s great! You may not need to use any sugar at all, with as little as you used. My family always requests more too, so I try to keep bananas in the freezer at all times. But still, we run out. :D -Wardeh

I make something similar to this that my kids love! I use frozen bananas, chocolate soy milk, and natural peanut butter. Very filling and very yummy. I have tried to make it with regular soy milk and cocoa, but I didn’t get enough cocoa in it to make it as chocolaty as we like.

I just whipped this up today for breakfast. We used regular milk, agave, & carob powder instead of cocoa. Then after I dished up some for my daughter I reblended it with a bit of instant coffee. Very tasty and oh so much cheaper than a blended coffee shop drink.
