Herb Seasoning Salt

We gave this herb seasoning salt away as gifts a couple Christmases ago. I bought salt shakers at the dollar store and filled them up with this homemade mix. Jeff’s godmother just ran out and asked for the recipe. Since the kids are going to be seeing her on their trip away, I made a batch this morning. The kids will be able to deliver a jar of it along with the recipe.

Herb Seasoning Salt

Use this MSG-free herb seasoning salt to season salads, salad dressings, soups, sandwiches and more.

  • 1 cup sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/2 cup dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon sage

Put all ingredients in blender container and blend to chop up the herbs and incorporate all the ingredients. Store in a glass jar or a salt shaker in a cool, dry place.

This salt is fabuous! I am so glad you gave me the recipe Wardeh! I have been using it ever since. I also use it to make a sweet/spicey chicken marinade.

    Herbed Citris Chicken

    1/2 c. honey (or agave)
    1/4 c. orange juice
    2 T. Italian seasoning
    1 T. herb salt
1 T. hot pepper sauce (optional for an added kick)
1 1/4 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts cut long

    Mix marinade ingredience.
Marinade chicken at least 1 hour.
    Broil 4″ from heat 8 – 10 minutes.

(Originally I skewered the chicken, but it’s just as good not.)
